About Traveling Tracks

Brad Zabelski -- Owner/Chief Audio Engineer & Mastering Engineer

Brad at Patriots TheaterFollowing summer study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Brad decided on a career in music and after an audition at the Hartt School of Music was granted a performance scholarship to study classical guitar. During his years at Hartt, Brad was educated in music theory, harmony, history, and also music production and technology. Deciding to further his education at the Omega School of Applied Recording Arts and Sciences, he learned to operate state of the art Neve and SSL consoles and achieved certification as a Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstation operator.

While living in the Washington D.C. area as a student at Omega, Brad discovered his passion for recording live music. The music scene in the city was thriving and this provided an opportunity to record a wide variety of musical styles in many different environments. Only hours after graduation from the Omega School in D.C., he started an internship at Soundtrack, one of New York City's most prominent recording studios. Working with some of the music industry's top professionals was inspiring and motivated Brad to launch his own business.

For ten weeks, he indulged in the abundant resources, both musically and technically, as well as the wealth of information provided by his mentors. The compilation of educators, an invaluable team comprised of director Thomas Haines, AES President Ron Streicher, Neumann/Sennheiser specialist Juergen Wahl, and Grammy winning engineer John Earlge was good company to be in to say the least! Not to mention special guests Jeff Rona of Hollywood's Media Ventures and Juilliard's Pulitzer Prize winning composer John Corigliano. The Aspen Music Festival is truly a world-wide musical treasure!

Brad currently resides with his wife, Lindsey, daughter Ava, and twin boys Ben & Charlie in Mays Landing, New Jersey.  Brad and Lindsey comprise the acoustic duo, “Chasing Bluebirds”. Together they have produced a CD/workbook set entitled “Songs With Character”, an educational series for elementary school students. Brad also enjoys playing guitar in his local church ensemble when time allows.

Rob Shaffer

Rob ShafferLike many recording engineers, Rob got his start as a musician. Though-out his youth, he performed in bands and orchestras playing guitar, bass, and percussion at schools in the Downingtown Area School District of Chester County, Pennsylvania. Jazz guitar and marching percussion were particularly important parts of his high school music participation, as were composing and performing original music in rock bands. His passion for music and technology fueled a natural transition to the recording field.

At the Hartt School of Music, where he studied Music Production and Technology, Rob worked as a principle engineer at the Hartt Recording Studio. Traditional music training, with a concentration in jazz guitar, rounded out his curriculum. Rob also worked independently recording students at the Hartt School, including work with the River Crossings Concert Series and the Quey Percussion Duo.

Rob has returned to work in the Greater Philadelphia region as a freelance musician, engineer, and producer.

Andrew Jaworski

Scott McKeownAndrew's love of music began at the early age of 7, when he started taking guitar lessons. While he pursued learning the guitar, recreationally, he also played the trumpet throughout grammar and high school; in turn, he performed with as many different school ensembles as possible, including the concert band, wind symphony, jazz band, and marching band. By the age of 16, Andrew took on his own students and began giving private guitar lessons.

Andrew is a recent graduate of the Hartt School of Music, where he studied classical guitar and majored in Music Production and Technology. He was a senior student member of the Hartt Recoding Studio staff where he has recorded such notable ensembles as the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, the Lion's Gate Trio, and the Miami String Quartet. Similarly, he also works independently as a recording engineer and specializes in recording live concerts, recitals, and studio sessions. In early 2007, Andrew joined the Traveling Tracks team, where he is both pursuing his professional goals and broadening his love of music.

Matt Martin

Matt MartinMatt began playing music at the age of 12 when he got his first electric guitar. Soon thereafter he ventured into the world of recording when his parents bought him his first 4-track cassette recorder. Matt used this machine for years and it forced him to hone his microphone technique and ears in order to make the best sounds possible with this quite limited piece of equipment.

Matt attended Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania, majoring in Music Recording Technology. This Bachelors of Music degree blends intense music classes such as music theory, aural theory, history, form and analysis, conducting, and private lessons with technology classes including digital audio, Tonmeister techniques, physics, audio electronics, mastering, and ear training. These classes, combined with virtually unlimited access to three campus recording studios, gave Matt the opportunity to develop his ears and grow as an engineer. In his senior year, Matt was honored by being selected as Studio Manager and was given the responsibility of maintaining the campus studios, troubleshooting equipment problems, installation of new gear, and organizing the recital recording program. During the summer of 2006 he also completed an internship with the audio department of NFL Films and assisted with various voice-over, mixing, sweetening, and orchestral recording sessions. This amazing opportunity afforded Matt the opportunity to see a whole other side of the recording industry that was not taught during his years at LVC.

Currently Matt works as both a professional musician with the Anthony Lattanze Band and as a freelance audio engineer for various musicians and organizations, including an independent film company called International Artist Studio and as chief audio engineer at the Rose Tree Park Summer Concert Series in Media, PA.
